Wow. I was completely blown away with this book. After reading a blurb, I just knew I had to read it. Sometimes in life, we become so engulfed with our routines that we often forget to live. We often forget that others may be going through their own issues, fears or waging a battle you can’t even begin to fathom, even those closest to us. We tend to focus on what’s wrong with our lives rather than what’s right. Liz Fenton and Lisa Steinke take the reader on a journey that will change the way you view others as well as yourself. They reinforce the powerful adage, “the grass isn’t always greener on the other side.” This book is the perfect blend of wit, humor and insight. It will make you laugh, cry and reflect on your own life and that even you may be guilty of taking something in your life for granted.

Your Perfect Life tells the story of two women, Rachel and Casey, who have been friends since the 7th grade. They’ve stood by one another through every major milestone and accomplishment, yet they don’t know the innermost fears each harbor. Their twenty year high school reunion brings a few issues to the surface and Rachel and Casey get into an argument over success and lack thereof. Rachel feels like she gave up all her dreams to become a stay-at-home mom and Casey feels she’s given up on love choosing her career above all. With the help of a magical drink their bartender assists in bringing these two closer than they’ve ever been….so close, they actually switch lives and bodies, but can they get back to their old lives or will they want to once they walk a mile in the others shoes? This is an entertaining and insightful book and I recommend this to anyone who likes a good tearjerker. Contemporary, Women’s fiction and chick lit fans will love this book.

“It has been a long time. Why are you here?” I replied, not taking my eyes off Dewayne. He was still larger than life. More so than when I was a teenager. He had a few more piercings now and a couple more tattoos. His shoulders were even wider, and the thick, corded muscles in his arms were intimidating. The man was like a brick wall.

Yet those eyelashes of his were still too thick for a male, and even though he’d pierced his lip, it didn’t take away from the plumpness that women paid good money to mimic. The worn jeans that looked like they needed a good washing hugged him in a way I wanted to ignore. I had to ignore. This man was off-limits to me.

He wasn’t just the nice guy who had been my friend when I was younger. He was also a man who had abandoned me when I’d needed someone the most. Even if he was delicious and what female fantasies were made of, I would never forgive him. Dustin had adored him, yet Dustin’s son didn’t even know him.

He cocked an eyebrow at me, as if he was surprised by my reaction to him. “Came over to see who the new neighbors were. Beat-to-shit car parked out front concerned me. Neighborhood’s not what it used to be.”

Once I wouldn’t have been able to look past his perfectly chiseled face and full lips to get angry with him. That wasn’t the case any longer. My hands fisted at my sides, and I wanted nothing more than to punch him in the nose. I owned that car. I had worked hard to buy that car.

“I’ll keep that in mind. I can assure you we’re not going to cause any problems,” I replied, walking over to the door and putting my hand on it to let him know I was done with this visit and wanted him to leave.

Dewayne frowned, and his dark eyes, which in my dreams had looked at me like he had today when I’d walked into the room, were now narrowed. Great, I’d managed to piss off the massive, monster-size man who could knock me down with one hard puff. “Where did that sweet girl I used to know go? You lose her somewhere?” Dewayne’s voice was even, but the low, menacing sound to it bothered me.

What did he expect me to do? Bat my eyelashes at him and swoon like I had when I was a kid? “She learned to toughen up and trust no one.” I gripped the door, fighting the urge to slam it in his face. Because I was pretty sure he could rip it off its hinges if provoked. “Thanks for stopping by. Now that you know we aren’t about to dirty up the neighborhood with our presence, you can go on back to your parents’ place. We’re fine here.” I started closing the door. Dewayne stepped back. To my surprise, he turned around, then started walking away.

“What was all that?”

“What was what?”

“All that posturing down there? Is that why you brought me? To have your own groupie?”

“What? What the hell are you talking about?”

“All the special attention, all the sweet touching and singing to me like that. I’ve never felt more used.”

“I wasn’t using you, Violet.”

“Then what were you doing? You’ve never acted like that before.”

“I didn’t realize it would bother you.”

“It bothers me because you did it as part of your show.”

“Trust me. That had absolutely nothing to do with my show.”

“Of course it did! Why else would you act like that?”

Thoughts of the way Rand was looking at her, of the ways I know he was thinking of touching her, gets my anger fired back up again. I turn toward Violet, stepping in closer, my face inches from hers. “You wanna know why? I’ll tell you why. It had nothing to do with me putting on a show. It had everything to do with that slimy asshole hitting on you. It was pissing me off.”

“You lied to me,” he said gruffly, sitting on the barstool at my counter. His blonde hair flopped in front of his eyes, and my hands itched to push it back. To get to touch him again the way I want to would satisfy only a millimeter of the need I have, but it would relieve some of the pain. I turned around to hide my thoughts.

“Ugh… I need coffee,” I said vacantly, reaching for my coffee maker. I didn’t even hear Seth move, but his hand grabbed mine and he turned me around, placing his hands beside me on the countertop to trap me. My breath caught, and I was almost positive he could hear my heart pounding in my chest.

His blue green eyes were angry, but I didn’t even care about him being mad. All that mattered was the charge that thumped between us. I was very aware of him.

“You lied, Josie. You’re not supposed to lie to me.”

“Seth… come on,” I said, turning my face away, unable to look at the raw emotion in his expression. His hand dashed out and grabbed my chin.

“How long, Josie?” he asked. I closed my eyes, not wanting to admit anything. “Open your damn eyes, Jos. Stop fucking hiding.” His voice was hard, but it was also full of desperation. I opened my eyes and narrowed them at him.

He doesn’t understand that I need to keep him away from me. My life is tainted by darkness, and he doesn’t need that. “It doesn’t matter, Seth. I’m fine.”

“Like fucking hell it doesn’t matter. I haven’t heard you scream like that since after everything that happened.”

He was referring to when I would have nightmares after I was raped. He or one of my dads would come lay with me to help me fall asleep. Every day that Seth wasn’t in school, he was there with me, trying to make the nightmares go away.

“Since the engagement party,” I whispered, looking down. I don’t know why I admitted it, but I think there was a part of me that realized I couldn’t hold onto all this pain anymore.

That’s when my resolve started to break. How long can I go on fighting the feelings that I have for Seth? How long can I act like nothing hurts me?

“Fuck, Jos…,” he whispered back, placing his forehead against mine. I was able to smell the mixture of hay and apple pie on his skin, and I almost lost my footing from wanting him so badly. “You should have told me.”

“I didn’t want you to worry,” I admitted.

“I worry about you every second you’re not with me, Pussy Cat. Every second that you hide behind that wall you’ve built, I wonder when you’re going to crack.” His hand reached up to caress my face, and I started to lean into his touch. It was only a minute movement, but I still heard Seth’s breath hitch. My lapse in self-control made him bold. He brought his mouth to the side of mine, and kissed me. I couldn’t stop the whimper before it escaped my mouth.

“There you are,” he whispered hoarsely against my lips. I wanted to bask in the moment, but I had already opened up to him too much. I pushed through the barricade he had made, and ran back to my room.

Ever read a book that completely captivates your mind, body and soul? I think I may have experienced this feeling while reading That’s a Lie. Victoria Klahr has a gift. She manages to draw you into an emotional and dramatic world while captivating the essence of love and desire unlike any other book I’ve read. Her descriptive language and heartfelt emotions emit a plethora of feelings that draw the reader into a deeply painful, deeply meaningful yet incredibly beautiful experience that sits with you long after you’ve read the final chapter.

To say I was surprised is an understatement, sure I love That’s A Promise, but That’s a Lie took me one step further. I didn’t think it was possible to fall more in love with this series, but I am so deeply in love with this story and the authors ability to completely unleash all sorts of emotions. I can’t even adequately describe the feeling, but it is deeper and stronger than love. I went through a roller coaster ride of emotions from frustration to pain to intrigue and definitely experienced more than a few blush worthy moments. This book is super hot, filled with raw emotions and deeply engaging.

Josie, as usual, is incredibly stubborn, but she grows a lot in this book. She’s been through so much pain and she internalizes it all. She pushes those closest to her away and with Seth back, how long will she be able to deny her feelings before she breaks? The road is bumpy, but it makes you appreciate both Josie and Seth’s journey.

Now, let’s take a minute to discuss Seth. I will never deny my love for him. I’ve been a day one fan and I’d proudly wear a Team Seth T-shirt any day! You all know I go through phases, currently Seth has topped my best book boyfriends of all time list! Yes, he is that amazing! You need him in your life, so if you’re into tattooed, pierced and hot he’s your man and this is a must-read. I was so frustrated with Josie throughout this read for a number of reasons, but mostly because Seth is such an amazing catch yet she did everything in her power to push him away. Did she succeed? You’ll have to read to find out.

I am sooooooo impatiently awaiting book 3…I’m sure it’s going to be one hell of a ride!

“Why is Nikolai in that picture with people wearing crowns? Who is he?” she asked. Her heart pumped so fast she could feel the blood pulse through her temples. “And why did he lie about his identity?”

Headlights filled the driveway, and I let out the breath I was holding. She was home. I waited until she was out of the truck and at the door before I opened it. I wasn’t giving her a chance to run from me.

She stood there in front of me then glanced around at my feet as if she were expecting to find something.

“Where have you been?” I asked, trying not to sounds as frustrated as I was.

“What does it matter?” She asked. She wasn’t angry. She looked confused.

I closed the little bit of space between us. “Because I was worried,” I said honestly. She needed to know. She’d scared me.

“I find that real hard to believe. You were too busy with your company for the night to notice much of anything.” The distaste in her voice was obvious.

“You came earlier than I expected. I didn’t mean for you to witness that,” I said, knowing it sounded bad as I said it. But I didn’t have an excuse. Even if I wished I did.

She shifted her feet and let out a sigh. “I came home the same time I do every night. I think you wanted me to see you. Why, I’m not sure. I’m not harboring feelings for you, Rush. I just need a place to stay for a few more days. I’ll be moving out of your house and your life real soon.”

Damn her. She was going to make me feel. I couldn’t fucking feel. Not with her. Closing my eyes, I muttered a curse and tried to calm myself down. “There are things about you don’t know. Before I even talk about the actual content in this book let’s talk about this smoking hot cover! Seriously though, Throttle Me had me salivating from the moment I laid eyes on the cover! I mean seriously I wanted to lick this guys abs! haha! Ok, let me stop drooling and actually tell you about the steam in this book!

Hot hot hot! Mucho Caliente! I loved Throttle Me. It is a fun and sexy read. I fell in love with City and enjoyed seeing Suzy come out of her shell!

Suzy thinks she has her life mapped out. She a teacher, she knows she wants to settle down with a nice guy, but she has no idea that City is about to turn her world upside down. She knows what’s expected of her, but sometimes plans and the perfect picture in your head don’t align with your heart. When Suzy meets City she begins to question everything. She knows she should steer clear of this “bad boy”, but something draws her to him, and its obvious the feelings are mutual. Something inside of her begins to stir and Suzy finds the courage to take a walk on the wild side. Problem is there’s more to City than she imagined. As she begins to peel back the many layers she sees how easy it might be to fall for him…terrified she must decide if she should follow her heart or go back to her carefully mapped out life?

City isn’t interested in a relationship, at least he wasn’t before meeting Suzette. Now the school teacher is slowly weaving her way into his head…and his heart. City’s been through a lot and it’s made him steer clear of relationships, but something about Suzy is getting under his skin and he wants to know her. He might even want more…but is he willing to admit it? How far will he go to possess her and how far will she run from the one person she knows has the power to break her heart. Throttle Me was a one sitting read for me. The story is fun and engaging. It will keep you hooked and wanting more. If you like a heated romance with plenty of sparks you’ll enjoy Throttle Me. There’s plenty of steam and substance. Perfect for New Adult, Contemporary Romance, Adult Fiction and Erotica fans and of course any fans of sexy tattooed bikers hehe!

The pink of her cheeks spread across her face. I know I embarrassed her, but fuck, I needed to know if I stood a chance.

“Yes, I swear. What do you think I am? I’m not a child, City.” She glared at me as she raised the drink to her lips and wrapped them around the rim. Fuck I wanted those lips wrapped around my shaft, taking me deep and sucking me off.

“Never said you were, babe. Do you drink besides tonight?” I asked, now smiling because I knew she was upset. I liked the fire I saw in her eyes when I pointed out her good girl qualities – she obviously didn’t like being labeled.

“Sometimes. I’m just responsible. I don’t drink and drive. My dad used to be a cop and it was drilled into my head at an early age.” The words she spoke hit me like a ton of bricks. Drunk driving was the one thing in the world that caused my blood to boil.

Good girl teacher with a cop father? Just my luck. “Nothin’ wrong with that. Virgin daiquiris aren’t always your thing, then?”

“Why? Do I have to be a drinker? I mean does it make me less of an adult?”
