REVIEW

I have to start this review by warning you that Chelle Bliss is an incredibly cruel women, but she writes incredible books! Resist Me….hang on for a sec while I fan myself. Talk about a steamy hot read! I swear my kindle sparked. So, why did I refer to Chelle as a cruel woman? Let’s just say I’m already dying for the release of Uncover Me, book 5 in The Men of Inked series!!! Resist Me has a bit of a cliffhanger ending so be prepared, but omg it is so worth the read. If you haven’t already accepted the Gallo clan into your fold yet, what are you waiting for? These books are incredible and Izzy’s story is no exception. Stubborn, bad ass, headstrong Izzy meets her match in James, but will she allow herself to open her heart to him?

This book has it all passion,  intrigue, action and of course humor. I laughed and fanned myself…often. This book is seriously steamy. I’m not sure how to classify any of The Men of Inked books on the steamy scale, but this one certainly took the cake! Izzy and James chemistry is off the charts! I seriously love Izzy and James is by far my favorite male in the Men of Inked series. Talk about smoking hot!!! I’m fanning myself as I write this. Seriously, I loved this book. I loved getting to know Izzy and James and I cannot wait for this story to continue. I won’t lie, this is my favorite book to date and Izzy and James are favorites….sorry Gallo clan, I’ve always been an Izzy fan and alpha male James just does it for me. This book is absolutely perfect…love, love, love…and did I say LOVE it!!!
The thing about Chelle’s books is they are so real, so funny, so steamy, but they make you feel like these characters could be your friends, your family…even a reflection of yourself. They’re a family you often want to be a part of and even with the craziness at times you wouldn’t want to trade them for anything in the world. Another great read by Chelle Bliss and one that I highly recommend to all erotica/erotic romance fans. 4.5 stars because Chelle has me dying to know what happens next!!!!
Happy Reading!

Excerpt:

I’d already raised my voice, but I couldn’t fucking help it. The woman was maddening. “I’m exactly what you need and want. You’re too fucking scared to admit it.”
She shook her head as she crawled out of bed and started to dress. “You’re not all that.”
“When you grow the fuck up, call me,” I said as I stalked toward her.
“You’re a total dick,” she hissed, moving to slap me.
I grabbed her wrist, pulling her to my body. Gripping her hair in my fist, I gave it a slight tug as I hovered over her lips. She gasped, holding my shoulders.
“You know you want me,” I growled, my lips a breath away from hers. “I wrecked you for any other man. I own your ass, Izzy. I’ll let you run, but you can’t resist me forever.”

Excerpt

When I made my way back to the top, I found Bray wasn’t sitting near the edge of the ridge where I had left her I moved farther out into the clearing with our blankets draped over one shoulder.

“Bray?” I said, looking around.

I brushed it off for a second, thinking she was probably just taking a piss behind a tree somewhere, and I set our blankets on the ground.

But then I got a sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach.

I walked quickly toward the edge and looked over. My heart started to bang against my rib cage. I peered down as far as my sight could penetrate the darkness, but took a step back upon realizing that if she had fallen there was no way I’d be able to see from way up here.

She had to be somewhere around close by. She had to be.

“Bray?” I called out again. “Where the hell did you go?”

Still no answer.

Panic set in quickly. I stood there as still and as quiet as I could for several long seconds in case she was coming through the woods, but I heard nothing. I arranged both hands around my mouth and shouted, “BRAY!” and my voice echoed through the wide-open space. But still nothing. I felt sick to my stomach. She wouldn’t have left like that way out here. And if she did, I would’ve seen her on the path coming down as I was making my way back up.

I ran toward the tree line, searching for any sign of her, for another path she might have taken. I refused to believe that she had fallen off the edge.

Just as I noticed another path through the woods that seemed to head south and I started to go toward it, I heard footfalls in the leaves. I didn’t wait to see if it was her, I ran blindly straight into the woods. A skinny branch slapped me across the forehead on my way, but I didn’t stop.

Bray and I nearly crashed into each other.

“Shit, baby! Where the hell did you go? Scared the hell out of me!” I started to pull her into a hug, but something about her was off and I stopped. She didn’t respond or even raise her head to look at me.

“Are you all right?”

I took her hands into mine. Hers were shaking. Her whole body was shaking.

I cupped her face in my palms and raised her head so that she’d look at me. She was crying, and something in her eyes…I couldn’t place it, but it haunted me. I wondered if she even knew I was standing right in front of her. Her hair was messy, with pieces of leaves stuck within a mass of strands. Dirt was smeared across her left cheek. She looked like she’d been in a fight.

I touched her split lip, where a thin line of blood glistened near the corner. “Bray, you’re scaring me. What happened to you?” I shook her gently and then more aggressively when she still didn’t respond. “What happened? Talk to me!”

Her lips trembled and more tears seeped from the corners of her eyes. And then as if a floodgate had been opened, she started screaming through her tears, “It was my fault! Elias! Oh my God!”

What happened?” I roared, scared for her and for myself, my heart about to burst through my chest.

Excerpt

He kisses me passionately for three brief seconds, his hands gripping the sides of my face, and we’re both breathless when he says, “I wanted to tell you about Landon. I wanted to tell you a lot of things, but I knew you had to go home and none of it would’ve mattered.”
I touch his lips with two of my fingers. “You can tell me whenever you’re ready. I’m here to listen, and I’m not going anywhere. There’s nothing you can say to scare me away. I won’t leave again unless it’s what you want. I still have four days left of my vacation and I want to spend them with you.”
“I want you to stay.”
“Then I’m staying.”
“What about after that?”
“We’ll figure it out.”
He gazes into my eyes, searching for something, I could never know what, but I think he finds it because his lips smash against mine and he kisses me hungrily. I feel my body being lifted into the air, my legs wrapped around his waist, and the air in the room hitting me as he carries me quickly through it, never breaking the kiss. In seconds I feel the comfort of his bed beneath my back and his lumpy pillows I missed so much, around my head.
We strip off each other’s clothes clumsily and Luke is on top of me before I can even catch my breath. But I don’t need my breath when I have his, and his kiss is deep and forceful and it alone makes my body dizzy with need.

Carly opened the door, all smiles. “Missing something?”

Yeah, you. My relief at seeing her smile was instant but I gave her a hard time anyway. “There better not be a scratch on it.”

She shook her head. “Have a little faith.”

“You forget I’ve seen you drive.” Like a bat outta hell.

“Now I’m just insulted. C’mon up, I’ve got the key upstairs.”

I followed her, admiring the view.

“Want some coffee? I just made some.”

Her apartment smelled amazing, like cinnamon and fresh bread. I remembered I hadn’t eaten. “Yeah, sure. Smells good.” I followed her into the kitchen and looked out one of the windows. The Ducati was parked by a garage in back.

“I’m making muffins. They’ll be ready in ten minutes. Looking for the bike?”

“Checking to make sure it’s in one piece.”

“Would I destroy a machine like that? Jeez!” She looked affronted then busied herself getting coffee.

“I have no idea.” Women were capable of crazy shit.

She handed me a mug. “Well, I wouldn’t, but you might need a little gas.” She winked and set her small kitchen table for two.

“I don’t think I want to know where you went.”

I got her full-blown smile. “She opens up nicely on the highway.”

If I hadn’t seen her ride, I might’ve been having a heart attack right now. “Do you have any self-preservation?” I’d bet a month’s paycheck she didn’t go the speed limit.

Her face turned serious. “Lots, that’s why I was careful not to drop the bike.”

That statement, the look on her face, I couldn’t let it slide. I set the coffee on the counter and grabbed her hand. She flinched but I held tight and lowered my voice. “You think a bike’s more important than you?”

Review

*This was an ARC provided to me for free in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and comments are my own.*

As many of you already know, I’m a big Colleen Hoover fan. I have fallen in love with every single book she has published and Ugly Love is no exception. This book may actually be one of her best…nope I can’t even say that, this book is one of the best works I’ve ever read. Yup, I said it, not just HER best work, but one of the best books I have EVER read.  In all honesty every one of her books is equally amazing. I couldn’t rank them if I tried. All have been 5 stars and although I am inclined to say Ugly Love is also five stars, I simply can’t. Ugly Love isn’t like previous works by CoHo, it’s…different, but it is amazing in it’s own right and because of this, it is ranked in a category of it’s own. 5 stars would be an understatement so I’ll just say this book is a magnificent and brilliant work of fiction that will have you clinging to your kindles, nooks or books for dear life until the very last pages. It is a book that will shatter your soul and take the broken pieces to create a stained glass window around your heart. It will take you on one of the most elaborate roller coaster rides of your life…and you’ll never be the same again.
I fell in love with Miles…no, “I flew” in love with him. He is probably my favorite male character that Colleen has ever created and his story, while incredibly heartbreaking will make you love him beyond belief.  I cried…yes I said I cried, but is that really a surprise? Colleen seems to be the only author that has been able to bring me to tears time after time with her stories. This book, however, is deeper than most when exploring the many different facets of relationships and how hard someone can try to protect their heart before it all comes crashing down.

The ugly parts of love are too heavy…The ugly parts of love can’t lift you up. They bring you

They hold you under.
Drown you.
You look up and think. I wish I were up there.
But you’re not.
Ugly love becomes you.
Consumes you.
Makes you hate it all.
Makes you realize that all the beautiful parts aren’t even worth it. Without the beautiful, you’ll never risk feeling this.
You’ll never risk feeling the ugly.
So you give it up. You give it all up. You never want love again, no matter what kind it is, because no type of love will ever be worth living through the ugly again.”

This book is told in dual perspectives (mostly) and goes from present day to past and back again. We discover all the things Miles is keeping from Tate piece by piece like an intricate puzzle. We also begin to understand the many things about Miles past that have broken this beautiful man beyond repair and why he is so reluctant to love. We are in no way prepared for the final blow that will undoubtedly shatter you. This is probably one of the most shocking and heartbreaking moments I’ve ever read and my heart wept for Miles…and Tate. I wasn’t fully prepared for what was to come and I feared the direction this book would take after the discovery. How could these two possibly overcome this revelation? I won’t give away anything major, but know this book is brilliant and Colleen Hoover is yet again…brilliant.

Tate an RN pursuing her Masters in Nursing moves in with her brother Corbin. A pilot. He happens to be friends and works for the same airline as Miles. Tate and Miles introduction is rocky from the start, but there is a magnetic reaction that is so strong my kindle sizzled. These two have incredible chemistry and although they agree to participate in a no strings attached sexual relationship. Their hearts have other plans. Tate is a character you’ll love, but you will cry for her and every decision or indecision she makes. I found her to be real and her experience to be quite real when considering love and what a person will endure to simply keep someone in their life even when the rules are clear. For me, Miles is one of my favorite characters, but The Cap is another. I fell in love with him since his introduction. He simply is a necessary part of this book. His role and sometimes odd, always entertaining words of wisdom were the perfect balance to an otherwise passionate and heartbreaking novel.

Ugly Love is intense. It is a book that is both raw and deep. It cuts to the very core of your being and leaves you breathless. This book continues to highlight the genius that is Colleen Hoover and her amazing ability to weave words like no other. It is intricately created in a way that draws you in and tears you apart piece by piece. It is a book that will stay with you long after the final pages are read. This book is probably the best I’ve read in 2014. I recommend for all readers 17+ as the content is mature. Don’t walk into reading this with expectations, there is no amount of planning that can prepare you for this experience, but I guarantee you’ll never be the same again.

Two thumbs up, 10 fingers and toes!

“Work Bitch”
Goldie
“Where the fuck are my titty tassels?” Lyla announced, as she dug through her locker.
She was always losing her tassels. To be honest, I didn’t know why she used them to begin with; they were more eighties porn than New Orleans strip club, but she swore they drove the men crazy. I wouldn’t know, since I was always stuck on drink duty, but that wasn’t my choice.
“Seriously, Goldie, have you seen my tassels? I’m on in five,” Lyla pleaded.
“I haven’t. Maybe you should try something other than mini curtains hanging off your tits, huh?
Maybe wear…oh, what do they call it…a bra?”
“Where’s the fun in that?” Lyla asked, as she shimmied her naked tits in my face and I tried to smack her jugs away.
There was a reason why Lyla, my roommate, was center stage at Kitten’s Castle every night. She was drop-dead gorgeous. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t get a little lady wood every time she was up on stage. She was one of those mixed breeds who lucked out by having parents with perfect genes. Her skin was a deep brown color, her eyes were light green, and her hair was pitch black. Exotic could be a word to describe her, but I would also say fuck-me-in-the-ass beautiful. Yeah, that pretty much described her.
Lyla gave up on the search for her tassels and threw on a white cropped T-shirt over her naked breasts.
“I’ll just do my wet T-shirt routine tonight. There’s a bachelor party out there that has a lot of money to spend,” she said, while wiggling her eyebrows.
“When is there not a bachelor party out there?” I responded. “It’s New Orleans for fuck’s sake and we work at one of the most premier spots for men to get away with murder when they’re away from their own personal finger huts. You know, since the lighting is pretty much non-existent in here.”
Lyla crinkled her nose at my statement. “Hey, I like the fact that the lights aren’t very bright in here. I’d rather not have a spotlight shining up my Britney while I’m dancing on stage.”
“Easy for you to say; you’re not the one delivering drinks in the dark. I swear, Marv is trying to kill me out there.” I slammed my hand on the vanity and said, “And when the hell am I going to get my chance on stage?”
“Down girl. You get paid well.”
“Yeah, but I get groped every time a pass a hairy and horny man and, as we know, that’s pretty much every guy in this dump.”
“You got to work it, bitch, if you want to get the hell out of here, so stop complaining and put your garter belt on. We have some willing customers out there with some fat wallets.”
I huffed and waved Lyla off as she raced out to the stage to get ready for her act.
I looked into the mirror and studied the reflection that looked back at me. Ugh, I hated that my life had become an uphill climb of trying to pay off bills and debt that were, unfortunately, not even mine, but that of my dead parents. Every day, I have to practically sell my soul to skeezy men just to make sure I don’t go hungry and I can pay off the stack of bills that are piling up on my counter.
I’ve spent the last nine years of my life trying to climb back from the hole that Hurricane Katrina put in it and it hasn’t been easy, especially since I have no degree and no job experience
That’s why I’m currently sitting in front of a rusty old vanity with piss poor lighting, outlining my azure colored eyes with cheap-as-fuck eyeliner and praying that only one man tries to stick his thumb in my ass tonight. It was a common occurrence amongst the pervs.

About Meghan Quinn

meghan quinn

When I was in high school I occasionally read books but was consumed by other teenage things so I didn’t take the time to appreciate a good book on a cloudy day, wrapped up in a blanket on the couch, besides “The Notebook” I made time to read the heartbreaking novel.
It wasn’t until I received a Kindle for Christmas one year that my world completely flipped upside down. When looking for books, I came across the Contemporary Romance genre and was sold and I haven’t turned back since.
You can either find my head buried in my Kindle, listening to inspiring heart ripping music or typing away on the computer twisting and turning the lives of my characters while driving my readers crazy with anticipation.
I am currently residing in beautiful Colorado Springs where the sun is always shining and there is a trail waiting to be hiked on every corner. I share a lovely and warm home with the love of my life and my five, four-legged children.

Book Review: Flat-Out Celeste (Flat-Out Love, #2) by Jessica Park

FLC

Synopsis

Whether you were charmed by Celeste in Flat-Out Love or are meeting her for the first time, this book is a joyous celebration of differences, about battling private wars that rage in our heads and in our hearts, and—very much so— this is a story about first love.

For high-school senior Celeste Watkins, every day is a brutal test of bravery. And Celeste is scared. Alienated because she’s too smart, her speech too affected, her social skills too far outside the norm, she seems to have no choice but to retreat into isolation.

But college could set her free, right? If she can make it through this grueling senior year, then maybe. If she can just find that one person to throw her a lifeline, then maybe, just maybe.

Justin Milano, a college sophomore with his own set of quirks, could be that person to pull her from a world of solitude. To rescue her—that is, if she’ll let him.

Together, they may work. Together, they may save each other. And together they may also save another couple—two people Celeste knows are absolutely, positively flat-out in love.

Review

Astonished, amazed, inspired… Flat-Out Celeste is a quite simply put…a masterpiece. Jessica Park has managed to make me fall in love all over again with this amazing series. She is brilliant and I am in awe. This is an absolute must-read!

Let me backtrack a bit and come clean. When I first read Flat-Out Love, book one in this extraordinary series. I wasn’t sure of my feelings. In fact, I do believe my initial reaction was, “entertaining and hilarious, but predictable.” Now wait, don’t fret, I was a moron and I’ll be the first to admit it. My ridiculous reasoning at the time is not even worth mentioning…yet as time passed I still couldn’t get this book out of my head…it took a couple of weeks for me to realize I was a complete idiot and I actually rather loved this book. So, what did I do next you ask? Well, I reread it of course.  On second glance…ok, it was a bit more than a glance…more like a thorough examining, but all I could think is, “this Jessica Park lady is brilliant.” She made me love all the characters and when Flat-Out Matt was released I was overjoyed and once again…I fell in love. The announcement of Flat-Out Celeste put me over the moon. I was elated and I didn’t even know what to expect, all I knew is I had to have it. I was captivated with Celeste’s quirky personality since Flat-Out Love. Of course I had questions, what had become of this eccentric yet brilliant girl? Had she developed better social skills? Did she make more friends? Would she fall in love? I needed answers and I needed them like yesterday!

See, Jessica Park doesn’t just draw you in with her writing, she makes you fall in love…you actually want to live in these books and know more about every single person you encounter. I fell in love and connected with Celeste from the very first book and I needed more. The wait was grueling, but when I finally had my hands on Flat-Out Celeste, I devoured EVERY…SINGLE…WORD. Celeste is highly intelligent, but she has rarely allowed emotions to rule her or get in the way of important decisions. This book highlights her struggles to fit in, her path to both finding love and self-love. Celeste’s story is one that you may relate to on different levels. She is quite unique and there are discernible differences between her and many others characters, however, at the core, her battles aren’t so very different than those that many others face. The awakening that Celeste experiences in this book is life changing. She grows, loves, learns and experiences the world in a way that makes you appreciate the struggles. And while Celeste’s story takes up a great deal of the book her story wouldn’t be complete without Matt and Julie. Woohoo…so, yeah, you’ll see their return and hopefully appreciate the way things unfold.

Flat-Out Celeste lived up to all my expectations and then some. I won’t go and repeat the synopsis or summarize the book. I want you to experience this book for all that it is. It’s an extraordinary story with a beautiful and powerful message. Celeste is a character you won’t soon forget. Her story is one that is beautiful, heartbreaking and incredibly brave. I laughed, I cried and I fell hopelessly in love…again.

I could go on and on about this book and the series, but I want you to read this through so I’ll end by saying this book is beyond my greatest expectations. Jessica Park gives life to characters in a quirky and absolutely endearing manner rendering you speechless at times. The wit, humor and raw honesty in her writing is powerful and evocative. This book takes you on an incredible journey with a reminder that sometimes different is perfect and sometimes all you need is the perfect person to help you find your way. I give this book a gazillion stars…yeah I said it, it’s really that good! Go forth and read my friends this one is a must-read for all!

PS: I hope there will be more to the Flat-Out Love Series…I need more like now…hook me up to a Flat-Out Love IV. I fear I may not survive without it…seriously…ok maybe I won’t die…or maybe I will…why even risk it Jessica? Take me out of my misery…just say there will be more…pretty please with a cherry on top! 😉

There was a knock at the door and Matt leaned in, swinging a brown paper bag in her direction. “I heard Mom made stuffed peppers tonight. Last time she made those, I nearly died from flatulence. I assume she stuffed them with her usual repulsive ground chicken, quinoa, Brussels sprouts, and pomegranate seed mix?”

Just the sound of Matt’s voice made Celeste relax. She smiled at him. “Based on the smell, I believe you’re right.”

“So you didn’t eat then? I was right!” Matt flopped onto her bed and lay down, his long body scrunching up the neat white comforter that she spent ten minutes arranging before she’d gone to school this morning. “I thought I’d take a break from studying and bring you something edible.”

“It smells like a burger from Mr. Bartley’s,” she said as she got up and took a seat next to Matt. “Hand it over, thoughtful brother.”

He tightened a hand around the top of the bag. “You have to guess which kind I brought you first.”

“How am I supposed to know?”

“Close your eyes.”

She did as instructed and felt him move the bag under her nose. Sweet, spicy… a bit garlicky. “Aha! Boursin cheese and bacon! The Mark Zuckerberg burger!”

“And sweet potato fries and a bottle of iced tea, but you win. A burger named after ‘the richest geek in America,’ as the restaurant calls him.”

“You will be the richest geek in America after you finish your Ph.D. Program,” Celeste said through a mouthful of fries.

“If M.I.T. doesn’t land me in a psych unit first.”

“You only have this year left to endure. And you will hardly find yourself in need of psychiatric care, Matthew. You are doing stupendously.”

“I’m scraping by.” Matt reached into the bag and grabbed a handful of fries and opened her iced tea.

“You are not ‘scraping by.’ You are assistant teaching classes, excelling in your own, and in all ways performing to standards that exceed even the high ones our mother set for you.” She frowned as he chewed on the fries. “Did you not eat?”

“I did. A Big Papi burger and a Fiscal Cliff. But you can never have enough sweet potato fries.”

“I have a finite amount of my own from which you are stealing. But I shall not complain because this was very kind of you.”

Matt chewed and studied her. “Are you okay?”

“Why do you ask?”

“No contractions. When you’re stressed out, they disappear.”

“I know. But most days I do not care to use them. If it is an effort, then I do not push.”

“Okay. I get it.” He chewed for a minute. “I heard your presentation went well. Did your friends like it?”

“It went marvelously. My friend Dallas took me aside to share quite the flow of compliments.”

“That’s great, Celeste.” He was downing half her iced tea.

“And then I bitch slapped her.”

Matt choked on the drink and desperately tried to clear his airway. “I’m sorry. You did what?”

She cocked her head. “I bitch slapped her.”

“That… that can’t be right,” he sputtered. “I mean, I hope it’s not.”

“I slapped my hand against her hand. Up in the air.” She looked at Matt blankly. “Is that not the right term?”

“Thank God, no, it’s not. I think you mean a high-five.”

“If you say so. Well, either way, it happened. You know I have trouble with colloquialisms, so I resent your shocked reaction.”

“I do know that about you, and I apologize.”

“Since we are on the subject, there is something else I would like for you to clarify.”

“Shoot.”

“What is meant by ‘nut bag’? Is that a testicular reference or merely the identification of a satchel of cashews or pecans?”

Matt groaned. “This conversation has gotten really weird. Could we just talk about— Wait a minute. Why are you asking me this? Did someone say that to you?” He looked angry.

Celeste picked at her fry. “No. Certainly not. I heard the term and had a natural curiosity.”

“Okay then…” Her brother crumpled up the paper bag and then smoothed it out in his hands. Then crumpled it again. “It’s the same as ‘nuts.’ You know, crazy.”

“Thank you for the definition.” She took the last bite of her burger and wiped her hands on one of the paper napkins. It shouldn’t matter what her classmates thought of her. Celeste would just be strong about this. She would move on.

Review

I strongly believe one of two things will happen when you, yes you decide to read Night Owl
a) You’ll be hooked instantly and fall madly in love
b) You’ll be hooked instantly, BUT the book may not be for you
Either way, you’ll be hooked. I don’t think anyone will actually put this book down once they begin reading. I just think the content may not be for all readers and that’s ok, but the undeniable thing is M. Night is brilliant and the writing is extraordinary. You will laugh, you will swoon and you will likely be heartbroken.

This book is smoking hot…I swear my kindle sizzled and sparked as I turned page after page of this steamy and passionate novel. Although the erotic element is evident, this book offers a great storyline, one that will intrigue you and leave you wanting more. Night Owl is a book that quite frankly, took my breath away. It is a story that captivated me from the very first page and left me reeling for quite some time after reading the last lines.

The synopsis already explains the relationship between Hannah and Matt, but for those who may have skimmed it, let’s recap, Matt and Hannah meet as Night Owl and Little Bird on an online forum. They partner up and begin writing a novel together, during this time it is agreed that there is to be no personal contact between the two. They write and that is all…at least that’s the plan, but fate steps in and throws these two a curveball they never saw coming.

Matt is sort of an asshole at times. When you begin reading you won’t know what to make of him. This is what intrigued me the most…he’s unpredictable. There are so many different layers to his character. He truly is a complex character, but you can’t help but fall in love with him. Hannah is as sweet as they come, naïve at times, but incredibly sweet and eager to please Matt. She is a character you’ll fall deeply in love with. She is loving and supportive and also endures her share of drama.

The circumstances in which they meet left me unsure of my feelings. There is an element of deception in this book of different capacities, but the “cheating” aspect is rather complicated. I’ll keep it brief and hopefully spoiler free…Matt is in a relationship at the time of their meeting and I am still not sure how I feel about that part of the book, but I do love Hannah and Matt together so I can’t lie, I got over it quickly. It is a bit more complicated than I am willing to share because I truly don’t want to ruin this for you. All I can say is, read the book, share your own thoughts, I’m sure there will be plenty of people with differing opinions. For me, this may have been the most difficult thing I struggled with emotionally while reading.

Nevertheless, Matt Sky managed to weave his filthy, kinky mouth and mind into my heart. He is a complex blend of several personalities and I loved every single one of them. Talk about a complicated yet deliciously sexy man. Excuse me while I fan myself.  This book will emit powerful emotions from the reader; mostly swooning, but you’ll certainly experience the joys and pains both Hannah and Matt endure. There is a depth to these characters I’ve never before encountered in an erotic series. For some, there are elements of this book that may strike a cord. As you get further into the novel more layers are revealed and the battles waged will leave you unsure of the final outcome, but the journey you take reading this book will be unlike any you’ve ever experienced. M. Night is clever, witty and devastatingly devious. I am longing for more.

The only warning label I’ll give is that the ending will leave you perplexed or pissed, either way this does not take away from the exquisite writing and incredible story that is Night Owl. It is angst filled, raw, steamy, sexy and utterly addictive. I cannot wait for the release of Last Light! I highly recommend this book to all erotic romance fans and all those who love a good steamy read.

Excerpt

Panic set in as I listened to the ring.
I’m about to talk to Matt.
I’m about to hear his voice.
I don’t even know this guy.
What the hell am I doing?
He could be a psycho stalker.
We shouldn’t cross this line.
I can hang up.
I can hang up now.
Yeah, I’m going to h—
“Hannah?”
I swallowed and slid down the bathroom wall.
“Hannah, is that you?”
Matt’s cool, clear voice swirled in my ear. It was distantly accented—New Jersey, maybe New York—and a little husky.
He sounded sleepy.
He sounded sexy as hell.
I had the overwhelming urge to ask him to keep saying my name. Hannah, Hannah, Hannah. Help me come. Warmth bloomed between my legs.
“Okay then.” He laughed softly. I felt my reason melting at the sound. “We’ll play the one-sided conversation game. I’m Matt, it’s nice to—” Again, he broke into quiet laughter. His voice was rich with amusement, but not warm. He sounded contemptuous. He sounded ready to laugh at anything, simply for the pleasure of laughing with his silky voice.
I couldn’t help but picture the devilish eyes that must have accompanied that voice.
Green eyes, I decided. Dark green, secretive and deep like a forest.
“I was going to say it’s nice to meet you,” he went on, “but I guess we’ve technically met online. Now we’re meeting on the phone. Maybe…” He trailed off. I heard some shuffling. “God, if this is you trolling me Nate, I swear I’m going to break your fucking—”
“Hey! Sorry, I—” I scooted over to the bathroom door, opened and closed it, then sat back against the wall. Brilliant. Sorry, I was soaking my underwear while I listened creepily to your voice. “—sorry, yeah. I had to go in the bathroom. My sister is asleep.”
Matt was silent for a moment.
“Is that why you’re whispering?” he said.
“Yeah. She’s really tired. We’re at a motel, we just stopped. Pretty sure the wall between this bathroom and her bed is a piece of plywood, so.”
“Well… damn. I wanted to hear your voice. I mean, your regular volume voice.” He chuckled. “Do you think you could risk a few words? I’ll deal with your sister if she wakes up.”
I smirked, imagining a conversation between my hotheaded sis and this glib personality.
“I think that would be a bad idea. But, um. Sure. What  should I say?”
“With your normal voice? How about, the quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.”
“Okay.” I cleared my throat. I was suddenly painfully self-conscious about my voice. “Um. Okay. The… the quick brown fox—”
Laughter exploded on the line. It was loud and sharp, nearly cruel.
“Oh… my god Hannah.” I heard a clatter, then some scuffling. “Oh fuck. You were really saying it. The quick… brown fox… oh god.” Matt dissolved into laughter again.
I glared at my knees.
“What’s so fucking funny?” I whispered.
“Hannah. Hannah, I’m sorry.”
I heard him take a few calming breaths.
“Okay,” he said. “I’m sorry. Ignore me, seriously. I have a weird sense of humor. That… that struck me funny. You have a lovely voice. Go figure.”
Go figure? What did he mean by that?
“Look, is there a reason you wanted me to call, or were you just looking for some late night entertainment?”
“Pretty sure this classifies as early morning entertainment, Hannah.”
“Okay. Well whatever. Look, I’m not sure why I—”
“I can’t stop thinking about you.”
His words stopped me cold.
His words, and something in his voice. Honesty.
“What we did,” he continued. “Or what you did to me…”
My throat went dry. What I did to him. It should have grossed me out, the thought of a stranger beating off to a few details about my body, but it didn’t. It intrigued me. The heat between my legs pulsed.
“You know what I’m talking about,” he insisted. An edge came into his voice at the slightest provocation.
“Y-yeah,” I managed. “Yeah.”
“You enjoyed it.”
“Yeah.”
“You said you wished I were pounding into you.”
“Yeah…”
I couldn’t believe this smooth-talking stranger was dictating to me how I felt.
I couldn’t believe I was blindly agreeing.
And I couldn’t believe my considerable vocabulary had suddenly been reduced to “yeah.”
“Hannah, you made me come so hard. And I did it again, thinking about you. Let me return the favor.”
His words hung in the silence between us.
Return the favor. Help me come.
“Yes,” I whispered.

Book Review: Scoring Wilder by R.S. Grey

image-2

Synopsis:

What started out as a joke— seduce Coach Wilder—soon became a goal she had to score.

With Olympic tryouts on the horizon, the last thing nineteen-year-old Kinsley Bryant needs to add to her plate is Liam Wilder. He’s a professional soccer player, America’s favorite bad-boy, and has all the qualities of a skilled panty-dropper.

• A face that makes girls weep – check.
• Abs that can shred Parmesan cheese (the expensive kind) – check.
• Enough confidence to shift the earth’s gravitational pull – double check.

Not to mention Liam is strictly off limits . Forbidden. Her coaches have made that perfectly clear. (i.e. “Score with Coach Wilder anywhere other than the field and you’ll be cut from the team faster than you can count his tattoos.”) But that just makes him all the more enticing…Besides, Kinsley’s already counted the visible ones, and she is not one to leave a project unfinished.

Kinsley tries to play the game her way as they navigate through forbidden territory, but Liam is determined to teach her a whole new definition for the term “team bonding.”

**Recommended for ages 17+ due to language and sexual situations.**

I needed him to step back. His cologne was practically hijacking my ovulation cycle and I had to fight the urge to let my face collapse onto his shirt and inhale.

Liam kept his distance as I went to join the group, but that didn’t stop me from peeking at him from beneath my lashes. His soccer shorts hung low on his hips and I could see a sliver of his boxer briefs. Calvin Klein, of course. A shiver ran down my spine and I had to shove my gaze away before I started awkwardly panting. Dear Mr. Klein or should I call you Calv, it’s me again, Kinsley. Thanks so much for designing your underwear line. If you ever need a focus group for future designs, I’d like to be included. I’m a very good package inspector with excellent attention to detail. Attached you will find my list of references.

He’s my coach. My off-limits coach. He’s like chocolate and I’m like pickles. They shouldn’t be mixed…unless…chocolate-covered pickles? No. They shouldn’t be mixed. Damnit.

Review

Scoring Wilder is incredibly funny. I am still laughing at the witty and playful banter. This is a sweet, sexy and romantic read that will leave you feeling warm and tingly inside (and maybe out hehe). R.S. Grey paints a vivid picture of the life of an athlete and life in the public eye while building budding romances among multiple characters that will leave you swooning. I am so incredibly head over heels for Liam. I heart him and I swooned hard…still am. Kinsley you lucky bitch! haha.

I also have to mention the friendships in this book. They are amazingly depicted. I wanted Becca and Emily to be my friends. They are fun, witty and remind me of my own inner circle. These relationships made me connect well with the story and the characters. The romance is sweet, humorous and intense at times.

Scoring Wilder is hot, hilarious and utterly engaging. I spent one night reading this book and couldn’t stop laughing or smiling. This is a great beach read and a fantastic summer pick. Add it to your list if you’re looking for a sweet, and at times steamy, romance! Go on my one-click crazed friends and buy it now!!! This is a must read. Happy Reading!!!

Book Review

Never Doubt Me is book two in the Judge Me Not series and picks up where I Stand Before You left off. To say I am impressed with Never Doubt Me would be an understatement. This book is outstanding. S.R. Grey is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. Her ability to draw the reader in through her descriptive writing allows you to step into this story as though these are your friends, your family, your loved ones. The words she pens will touch you to your core. You feel the love, the anger, the passion, the fear; every emotion is carefully crafted to make you relate to the respective character and their emotions.

Chase and Kay’s story continue, though there are many bumps along the road. These two continue to inspire me. Their relationship is one I will root for until the very end. Their struggles bring them closer, though there are a few secrets in Never Doubt Me, I think these two may be able to overcome every hurdle thrown their way. With the arrival of Chase’s fifteen year old brother Will, Chase and Kay’s relationship is put to the test.

Will shows up at his house with his sixteen year old girlfriend Cassie in tow. The two have fled Vegas to put distance between Cassie and her stepfather Paul who has continuously made advances towards her unbeknownst to Cassie’s mother. In order to protect her, Will thinks asking Chase for help is a good solution, but this only creates a number of problems leaving Chase and Kay to deal with the fallout. This book starts off rocky, but the beauty of it is the rebuilding of relationships between several key characters — Will and Chase, Cassie and her mom, Kay and her mom, and even Missy and Kay. Addiction still plays a significant role in this book and Chase is hell bent on keeping Will away from the life he has fought so hard to leave behind.

This book is heavy at times, the love scenes are scorching and the relationships are equally endearing and heartbreaking. There are a few unexpected twists and turns and the book ends in a similar fashion as I Stand Before You — with you on the edge of your seat. You’ll want to know what’s to come. I have hope that this story will turn out well and that the characters I’ve grown to love will find their happily ever after. I doubt their happy ending will come easy, but I can’t wait to enjoy the ride. This book is unputdownable and I am eagerly awaiting the third installment, Just Let Me Love You . I highly recommend this to all New Adult/Contemporary Romance fans.

Now, she’s back in Sea Breeze, thankful to have a home for her and Dustin’s son, but not sure if she can ever forgive the people across the street who abandoned her when she needed them the most — The Falcos.
Betrayal, lies, and forbidden attraction might end Dewayne and Sienna’s story before it’s even begun.

EXCERPT

“It has been a long time. Why are you here?” I replied, not taking my eyes off Dewayne. He was still larger than life. More so than when I was a teenager. He had a few more piercings now and a couple more tattoos. His shoulders were even wider, and the thick, corded muscles in his arms were intimidating. The man was like a brick wall.

Yet those eyelashes of his were still too thick for a male, and even though he’d pierced his lip, it didn’t take away from the plumpness that women paid good money to mimic. The worn jeans that looked like they needed a good washing hugged him in a way I wanted to ignore. I had to ignore. This man was off-limits to me.

He wasn’t just the nice guy who had been my friend when I was younger. He was also a man who had abandoned me when I’d needed someone the most. Even if he was delicious and what female fantasies were made of, I would never forgive him. Dustin had adored him, yet Dustin’s son didn’t even know him.

He cocked an eyebrow at me, as if he was surprised by my reaction to him. “Came over to see who the new neighbors were. Beat-to-shit car parked out front concerned me. Neighborhood’s not what it used to be.”

Once I wouldn’t have been able to look past his perfectly chiseled face and full lips to get angry with him. That wasn’t the case any longer. My hands fisted at my sides, and I wanted nothing more than to punch him in the nose. I owned that car. I had worked hard to buy that car.

“I’ll keep that in mind. I can assure you we’re not going to cause any problems,” I replied, walking over to the door and putting my hand on it to let him know I was done with this visit and wanted him to leave.

Dewayne frowned, and his dark eyes, which in my dreams had looked at me like he had today when I’d walked into the room, were now narrowed. Great, I’d managed to piss off the massive, monster-size man who could knock me down with one hard puff. “Where did that sweet girl I used to know go? You lose her somewhere?” Dewayne’s voice was even, but the low, menacing sound to it bothered me.

What did he expect me to do? Bat my eyelashes at him and swoon like I had when I was a kid? “She learned to toughen up and trust no one.” I gripped the door, fighting the urge to slam it in his face. Because I was pretty sure he could rip it off its hinges if provoked. “Thanks for stopping by. Now that you know we aren’t about to dirty up the neighborhood with our presence, you can go on back to your parents’ place. We’re fine here.” I started closing the door. Dewayne stepped back. To my surprise, he turned around, then started walking away.

Jet

“What was all that?”

“What was what?”

“All that posturing down there? Is that why you brought me? To have your own groupie?”

“What? What the hell are you talking about?”

“All the special attention, all the sweet touching and singing to me like that. I’ve never felt more used.”

“I wasn’t using you, Violet.”

“Then what were you doing? You’ve never acted like that before.”

“I didn’t realize it would bother you.”

“It bothers me because you did it as part of your show.”

“Trust me. That had absolutely nothing to do with my show.”

“Of course it did! Why else would you act like that?”

Thoughts of the way Rand was looking at her, of the ways I know he was thinking of touching her, gets my anger fired back up again. I turn toward Violet, stepping in closer, my face inches from hers. “You wanna know why? I’ll tell you why. It had nothing to do with me putting on a show. It had everything to do with that slimy asshole hitting on you. It was pissing me off.”

“What? Because some random guy was flirting with me? That’s ridiculous!”

“Is it? Is it ridiculous that I hated the way he talked to you? Is it ridiculous that it made me want to rip out his eyes out every time he looked at you? Is it ridiculous that I wanted to kill him when you smiled at him?”

Violet shrinks back, away from my anger. “Jet, I’m sure that was just part of the way he does business.”

“The hell it was! He wanted you, and it was eating me up inside. That is why I was touching you. I wanted him to know that you are mine.”

Violet’s voice is soft. “But I’m not yours.”

I take a few long, deep, ragged breaths. “But that doesn’t mean I don’t want you to be.”
