Goodreads and Great Reads…

Aside from being a bibliophile, I’m also a Goodreads member. If you don’t know about Goodreads do me a favor and click on the link…no, don’t close this page until you finish reading every last word here…now as I was saying, I am goodreads obsessed. If you’re an avid reader, you’ll see why! Anyways…check it out.

When I first joined GRs I didn’t realize the weight of my words. I got likes on my reviews from authors and was seriously stoked. I was like, “wow they read that.” It made me rethink my sometimes unkind reviews. So with that in mind I will say this…any reviews I wrote/write are and were never intended to insult the writer. I don’t ever want someone to feel like I am discouraging them from writing, however, a writer cannot improve their writing without knowing how the reader connects with that piece of work. Negative feedback/critiques are necessary. Sometimes they’re not delivered in a way that softens the blow, but they matter as much as the good reviews. My biggest fear is publishing something I’ve written and everyone hating it, but its a risk every writer takes by putting a piece of themselves out there for the public to absorb and reflect on.

So, if I’ve ever written an unkind review or given your book an, “eh it was alright” I am sorry if I hurt your feelings but toughen up buttercup. There will be a lot worse reviews out there than mine. I will always try to be diplomatic when I write a review but if I don’t like something I will be honest. I will also try to leave everyone with my point of view without expressly spoiling the story for you as the reader.

So as my first official bibliofession I’m starting with something positive…Colleen Hoover and her amazingness!

I fell in love with her writing a few short months ago and I don’t think I’ll ever be the same. I’ve never experienced an author who could reach inside the depths of my soul! She writes with such a beautiful rawness. Her stories can be heartbreaking at times and you feel every emotion those characters feel. My first CH book was Hopeless and I was blown away! This book was need I say it…A-MAZING! This is one of the first books that ever brought me to tears. I cried, I laughed, I swooned, I cringed and it is still one of the best books I’ve ever read. I am impatiently awaiting the release of Losing Hope!

I then moved onto the Slammed series…I absolutely fell in LOVE all over again. I mean, there are writers and then there are WRITERS. What an emotional roller-coaster ride for me. I think I connected with this book on a crazy level because the characters circumstances mirrored some of my own at the time. I can’t believe I’m saying this but I have yet to read This Girl. I was impatiently awaiting the release and I am ashamed to say I have not read it yet. I even have the book, but I knew what I would get myself into the minute I started reading.  I could not put myself in a position to cry all over again…not yet because for some reason only Colleen Hoover books seem to bring on the waterworks. That’s a good thing btw! When an author can bring me to tears, you my friend have outdone yourself!

If you haven’t checked her books out…YOU are insane…but seriously buy them!!! You will not be disappointed! What are you waiting for? Go buy the books…now…seriously….go!
